"Let's Talk About Democracy" with Charge d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Skopje, Micaela Schweizer - Bluhm
It is well known that the US Democracy managed to be as consistent as it is mostly because the people have access to oppose the leaders they chose to represent them and we got to experience a real-life example of a face-to-face conversation with Micaela Schweitzer-Bluhm, Charge d’Affaires at US Embassy in Skopje, where we talked about democracy.
The debate led by Sefer Selimi, lasted for about an hour and a half during which time period the honored Charge d’Affaires had the chance to introduce us to US democracy within a few minutes of her brief speech, and provide answers to the questions of the audience.
This open discussion was organized as part of the “Let’s talk about…” series of public debates held every month between different actors in society and the citizens, especially focusing on the youth. The goal of this activity has always been to bridge the gap and increase mutual trust between institutions and citizens through constructive dialogue. The Youth and Community Center was beyond happy to host Mrs. Micaela Schweitzer-Bluhm and her team, as she gave a great insight into how to improve our democracy, the pros, and cons of our country, as well as how we can help our democracy by simply being active participants of the society.
