Democracy Lab – YCC in partnership with US Embassy in Macedonia organized a presentation on the topic of Preventing Violent Extremism. The presentation was delivered by Mr. Paul Turner, the Technical Director for Countering Violent Extremism and Senior Peacebuilding Advisor at Creative Associates. As a conflict prevention, mitigation, and response expert with more than 20 years of field and policy experience promoting innovative approaches to local, national, and international conflicts, Mr. Turner during his presentation discussed PVE strategies with members of the Gostivar community. The event invited relevant local stakeholders, such as NGO representatives, local institutions and high school principals, social workers, and also the local media. The topics covered during the presentation were: Indicators for radicalization, Real life examples of dealing with and preventing radicalization, and the best practices.
