The YCC is excited to share that we have started to implement our English Club facilitated by Peace Corps Volunteer Jake Long. This club teaches the English Language through a variety of games that improve the participant's language while having fun. The club also teaches the participants about American culture to help them get a better picture of life in the United States. English Club is designed for youth ages 14-19 and is open to participants of any English level. Through our program, we hope to help the youth of Gostivar reach new heights in English!

For the first session, we had a debate game where the participants debated hot-button topics like cats vs. dogs and whether Aliens have visited Earth. We have also played a version of a classic American Board Game, Scattergories. We also had a surprise guest visitor in PCV Liz Biron, who had previously facilitated our English Club through the Virtual Service Pilot. Through this club meeting, Liz was able to connect with some of the participants whom she had taught virtually over one year ago.

In our second session, the participants learned and discussed traveling in the United States as well as around the world. We also played a variety of English games, including the popular American board game, Taboo. We still have a lot of exciting activities planned, so stay tuned to follow our progress!
