Media and Information Literacy
Programs
With the vast amount of media seen by an average person every day, this program is designed to help the participants become more knowledgeable and aware of the types of media they consume. The YCC’s Media and Information Literacy Program will provide the youth in the region with in-depth knowledge about the current media landscape including the different types of media, ownership of media, learning about social media, and recognizing disinformation.
The Media and Information Literacy Program will meet once per week for eight weeks with each session lasting one hour. Media and Information Literacy Program activities will include icebreakers, videos, activities, discussions, and lectures. This class will have a hybrid structure, with the participants also completing an online course concurrently with the in-person sessions. The online program is from Very Verified which will have five classes that take thirty minutes to an hour to complete.
